ALLISON ABENDSCHEIN was a聽four-year letter winner at midfielder聽for the women鈥檚 soccer team from聽2013-2016. The Magnolia, Texas,聽native helped lead the Huskies to聽conference tournament titles and the聽program鈥檚 first two NCAA Tournament聽appearances in 2014 and was MVP of聽the conference tournament in 2016.
ANDREW GONZALEZ played his final聽two seasons as a guard/forward with聽the Huskies鈥 men鈥檚 basketball program聽from 2009-11. The Pasadena, Texas,聽native ranks 14th all-time with 1,292聽points and ranks third with 20.9 points聽per game. He averaged 22.9 points聽per game in 2010-11, which ranked聽sixth nationally. Gonzalez was a First-Team All-Great West Conference聽selection in 2009-10 and 2010-11 and聽was named the GWC Newcomer of聽the Year for the 2009-10 campaign.
ANNA STRICKLAND was a three-year letter winner聽at center for the HCU聽women鈥檚 basketball team from 2013-16.聽The Woodlands, Texas, native聽led the nation in rebounding with聽14.2 per game in 2015-16 and earned聽All-Southland Conference Second聽Team honors. Strickland was a two-time聽SLC All-Defensive Team pick, a聽two-time Academic All-Conference聽selection and was named to the聽Commissioner鈥檚 Honor Roll all three聽seasons. Her 31 rebounds in her final聽game set the all-time Southland聽Conference record and were the most聽rebounds in a single game in NCAA聽Division I during the 2015-16 season.
The 1986 4×800-meter relay of聽CHARLIE FOREMAN, Magness Fyhr,聽Sam Shimfessel and Alfredo Lahuerta聽ran a world-leading mark of 7:22.19聽on February 16, 1986, at the Florida聽Open. Their average legs of 1:50.5 are聽what current HCU head track and聽field coach Theresa Fuqua described聽as 鈥渓ightning in a bottle.鈥 The mark聽qualified them for the NCAA Indoor聽Championships, where they finished聽fifth, but were disqualified for incidental聽contact during the race. The mark聽stood up as the world-leading mark聽through the end of the 1986 season聽and was second-fastest 4×800-meter聽relay ever run by a collegiate squad聽(Arkansas in 1983).
STEVEN KEY, an HCU alum, is the聽longest-tenured assistant coach in聽NCAA Division I basketball, entering聽his 29th season coaching and his聽32nd overall at the school. The聽Savannah, Georgia, native helped聽lead the Huskies to 10 NAIA National聽Tournament appearances, nine聽conference titles and the nation鈥檚聽No. 1 ranking in 2003. In addition to聽his basketball duties, he served as聽the sports information director until聽2008, building the department鈥檚 first聽official website, which would go on聽to win several awards.
